Ed is a fully accredited member of IACP. He is a qualified Integrative Psychotherapist who holds a Masters Degree in Psychotherapy from Dublin City University and a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Psychology from NUI Maynooth. Having worked within a Therapeutic Community for many years with people recovering from addiction he gained a unique and valued insight into a residential based community setting working as part of the clinical management team. Ed a trained Social Care Worker has previously worked in sectors such as Care for the Elderly, Learning Disabilities and Youth Work with the LGBT community.
Ed has a strong belief in the power of the therapeutic relationship and the positive and often life changing effects which can occur when people invest in their own personal development. Over the past five years Ed has gained extensive experience working in Pieta House the Centre for Suicide and Self Harm working on a one to one basis with individuals in crisis and their affected families.
Ed’s approach to his work is client centred, strength based and solution focused drawing from therapeutic approaches such as Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioural, Family Systems, Psychodynamic and Gestalt Psychotherapy. For the past three years Ed has worked part time within the HSE Public Health System in a hospital setting working as part of a multi disciplinary team providing Psychotherapy to outpatients who experience issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, bereavement, addiction, psychosexual, self esteem.
Ed has also delivered Stress Management Training for teachers at primary level and currently facilitates a weekly Well Being Group in the North East Inner City using mindfulness and mediation as part of his approach. Just recently Ed has completed training in Gestalt Psychotherapy with Galway Leadership and Consultancy.
