Profile
Tanja is a qualified and accredited integrative psychotherapist, with background in psychology. Initially, her passion for understanding human condition was met through academia, lecturing and research. However, after a few years in this area, the need to apply the theory into practice grew stronger. She has several years of experience in social care setting working with homelessness, addiction, mental health and asylum seekers. Through this, she has developed a strong interest in working with trauma, and how applying findings from the field of neuroscience with evidence-based practices such as mindfulness, somatic work and psycho-education can alleviate clients’ suffering and break the cycle of re-traumatization and re-victimization.
Tanja practices from an integrative approach using applied neurobiology, attachment and polyvagal theory, sensorimotor psychotherapy and mindfulness to educate and empower the client, and create equality in the counselling room.
In her approach to clients, Tanja is a person-centred therapist who primarily strives to create a safe, accepting and holding environment, with the understanding that irrespective of the interventions used in the therapy room, client – therapist relationship is the fundamental factor to healing and growth.
