Profile
Steven is a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a background in Social Care for over 10+ years.
He is a member of IAHIP, IACP and is fully insured. Steven works with a diverse range of individuals on a wide range of issues and his practice is located at City Therapy on Dame Street, Portlaoise Town, as well as Online.
Steven is a cis-male who uses the pronouns he/him. He is passionate about the various ways we can experience and think about health and wellness on a physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual level. Steven has worked with young people, families, homeless services, youth and adult mental health, as well as with the LGBTQ+ community before coming to psychotherapy. Through his volunteer work, he has supported volunteers, facilitated groups, and taught mindfulness workshops in several community organisations.
In working with clients, Steven works collaboratively with individuals in a compassionate and person-centred way. Steven works on a one to one basis and offers a Humanistic and Integrative approach, collaborating with clients to set their own goals for therapy – as the experts in their lives.
Approaches
Steven’s approach to therapy is holistic and includes various approaches such as: body/somatic therapy, mindfulness and compassion-focused therapy, psychodynamic and attachment therapy, gestalt therapy, and existential therapy. His therapy practice is inclusive of LGBTQ+ and Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diverse (GSRD) people.
