- BA (Hons) Psychotherapy & Counselling
Dave is a qualified Psychotherapist and Counsellor with pre-accredited membership of IACP, working under their ethics and guidelines while continuing his professional development and attending regular supervision to ensure his work is maintained to a high standard.
With over 20 years’ experience working in a dynamic financial environment, and having two young children while returning to education, Dave understands how work pressures, life changes and family life challenges can heighten unresolved personal issues or cause sleeplessness, irritability, low mood, anxiety and panic attacks.
While retaining a keen interest in how our childhood experiences can impact our adult lives, Dave takes a person-centred, flexible and integrative approach; drawing from various psychotherapeutic theories to best fit the individual client’s needs. Dave believes in the importance of the therapeutic alliance, a safe and meaningful relationship between client and therapist. As such, Dave seeks to provide an open, non-judgmental and compassionate therapeutic space in which clients can discuss and explore their issues or difficult experiences, in order to empower change and facilitate self-understanding, healing and personal growth.
Dave has experience with:
Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression and Low Mood
The challenges of early adulthood
The impact of difficult or traumatic childhood experiences
Life Stage Changes – including career changes, overcoming difficult circumstances, changes in relationship status,
Existential Crisis, including loss or change of purpose or meaning in life.

“Dave in City Therapy, worked with me in accommodating huge shifts in perspective in too many areas to even begin to list. In doing so I’ve become clearer, calmer and more at peace with the world, myself and my place in it. I’ll never not sing the praises of his help” Phil (26), Dublin
“If you are looking for someone to talk to, to help sort out an issue or problem you are having, I highly recommend Dave Cosgrove. Talking with him over a period of time helped me to get myself back on track. I’m extremely grateful”. Christine (62), North County Dublin
