Profile
Caroline is a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist. She holds a MA Degree in Psychotherapy and works under the code of ethics and practice from the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapists (IAHIP).
Caroline has over 20 years’ experience working in the fast-paced corporate environment and understands the challenges that this can bring. Work pressures, financial worries, burn out and unresolved personal issues can all impact on the way we feel about ourselves and the way we perceive the world around us. Where our feelings and thoughts become overwhelming they can cause us to feel fearful and lonely.
However, Caroline believes every client has the capacity to reach their full potential, which is achieved by tapping into their own innate wisdom and ability to heal once they have awareness of themselves. She works with clients to move from avoidance to action, from overwhelmed to focused, and from struggling to thriving.
Approaches
Caroline works on a one to one basis and takes a Humanistic and Integrative approach, collaborating with clients to set their own goals for therapy. Healing is client led and a joint approach is used in determine the style of therapy that best suits the client needs.
Object Relations approach is based on the premise that our psyche is formed in early childhood through relationships with others, and where relevant, these relationships are explored to give the client deeper understanding of who they are now as adults. The important benefit of revisiting the past is to develop self-compassion by placing our struggles and suffering in context.
The main focus of Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is on bringing awareness to our unconscious psychological processes allowing the client to be more informed and equipped to change.
Gestalt approach helps clients focus on what is really happening in their lives right now, rather than what they perceive to be happening based on past experiences.
Existential therapy is based on the premise that all our problems are issues intrinsically linked to death, meaningless, isolation and freedom.
